2012 Christmas Quilt Show

There is a Christmas Quilt Show Happening HERE!

I'm showing my favorite quilt this year.  It's very special to me.  Made with Jennifer Chiaverini's Sylvia's Bridal Sampler pattern book. 140 different 6.5" Blocks made with a total of 43 different fabrics. My Christmas Quilt is made with  fabrics from two Nancy Halvorsen Lines, I added the gold from several other lines. It was a fun quilt to make! I machine quilted this quilt with holly variations in every block individually and then the borders with a holly pantograph . The sashings between the blocks are two inches wide And I quilted each of those with a line of holly leaves. Took better than a week to quilt this quilt! The name of this quilt is "Cardinals at Elm Creek". There is a fabric that I used that was just the right colors and I hid the cardinals on that fabric in many of the blocks on the quilt where the pieces were appropriately sized to hold and showcase the birds. And the Elm Creek part for Jennifer's books of course. This quilt has won two Best of Show, two People's Choice and a Second Place People's Choice awards.

We, My quilting Buddy, Mary C and I were lucky to have a picture taken with Jennifer Chiaverini when we met her in Oregon. We met here when she had her booking signing for the Aloha Quilt book! Our quilts were only 'tops' then.  Mine still needed the final border. I made it extra BIG to fit my bed! Jennifer signed our quilts in the N-10 Block called 'Diamond Friendship'.   This will be the year to have this quilt on my bed.

Go and see all the Cute and  Lovely Quilts entered this year, leave your comments and share in the fun. Entries accepted November 23-30th.  Thanks to Michelle Hester for hosting this year. There are Nice Prizes from the Sponsors to WIN also.

  9. Love it! I, too, made syvia's blocks but in red/white/blacks. What a great Christmas quilt it turned in to and how fun to have her sign it! My blocks will make two quilts..large one for my eldest granddaughter and smaller for her little sister who's legally blind and sees only in shade of gray. She went through each block and made comments then picked out 40 she liked. Wasn't it fun making them all!?!

  14. I have the Sylvia book but haven't started a quilt yet. I wouldn't have thought to use Christmas fabrics. You should be very proud of your finished quilt. It's gorgeous! And how lucky to get your photo taken with Jennifer C. I'm sure she didn't mind that it was just a top at that time. You definitely had a Kodak moment.
