Design Wall Monday September 17, 2012

There was more progress made on the Farmer's Wife Quilt.  Sewing the cornerstone and 2 sashings on each block like this makes it EASY to assemble. Tuesday and Wednesday are the Farmer's Wife Days at Thread and Bolts.  Won't they be surprised to see this hanging on the wall in the shop?!!
Only two more months of this class.

We will start a new Block of the Month in January.  Maybe TWO Blocks of the Month.  12" blocks this time.   There are new Marti Michell Blocks of the Month ready to go.  Using the same Templates we already have from making the Farmer's Wife.

Below is the D9P made from the 3.5" Y2K Swaps with Orange as the constant. This Quilt is for Michelle.
Kimmy and Tammi sorted them and matched them up when we were still sewing in the basement 6 years or so ago.  The quilt top was found when she was searching for the BOX of "Bears Need Homes, Too" fabrics a few weeks ago.  A couple of borders and it will be ready for Quilting.  It looks good on the Long Arm.

You can Link up with Judy Laquidara HERE. Lots to see on Design Wall Monday.

  1. The FWQ is lovely, but I absolutely love the disappearing 9 patch. So striking.

  2. I've been sewing the sashing and cornerstones onto my both of my Sow-A-Long block projects. It sure makes the assembly go fast! Love the dark sashing! The D9P looks great! Love the orange!!

  3. Your Farmer's Wife quilt is looking lovely! May I ask which Marti Michell templates you need to help with making the FW blocks? Have a great day! :o)

    1. Suzy, The Farmer's wife blocks actually used seven sets of Templates. They use sets, A, B, C, D, M, N, And S M and S are only used for a single month the others are used for 9 of the ten months. You are making 10 to 11 blocks every month for 10 months. The eleventh month you can make the 10 blocks that cannot be converted to the templates But a member of my groups converted them to paper piecing and they go together very well. I have the directions for converting to the templates and would be glad to share them with you if you purchase one of the sets of templates from me. I can priority mail them to you.
