Design Wall Monday- September 23, 2013

Tammy  and I decided to make two baby quilts, with similar fabrics and race, LOL
Tammy's will have a different Kicker border and more PINK.
Guess who WON??
This is the Quilts for Kids design.
Easy with a 4-Patch and a Focus Square.
The fabric has Owls and Butterflies on it--you have to look close.

Quilts have flown out the door before Mary C could get pictures.
Thankfully Tammy took a few pictures that now can be BLOGGED.
Julie H from Mesa picked up a few quilts last week.
Before Quilting

After Quilting and Close up quilting
The quilting brings the Quilt to LIFE!
This is one Mesa Julie calls her $20 Walmart Quilt.
And this Scrappy Blue Quilt used a bunch of her Blue stash of fabrics.
The go to Quilt Pattern is the Feather Ramble.

While she was here, she gave me a Cherished Teddies frame.
I got a little emotional.  Love those Teddy Bears!

Design Wall Monday- September 16, 2013

It's been a while since Thread and Bolts Design Wall has changed.
The Farmer's Wife has come down it's together as much as possible until the extra blocks get sewn.
The Bear Need Homes too blocks are coming together so they can go on the BIG Wall Soon.
(You may have seen a sneak peek of them on The Happy Birthday post HERE)
This is a version of THIS QUILT made with a multi-BLUE scrap basket.
Pattern thanks to Evelyn Sloppy's Log Cabin Fever Book.
And on the other WALL is a fun Buggy Barn Hearts Quilt.
Don't you just love the mix of these 27 Fat Quarters in Red, Gold and Black?
Thinking of a Piano Key Border to finish the borders.

Design Wall Monday April 29, 2013

The stack is getting more rounds sewn on. Pretty soon the design wall will be covered with these. There are 63 of them so it will make a BIG Quilt.  There is actually 3 quilts cut from the Batik scraps right now.
2 kings and a possible queen.
This is a close-up of one of the block that is close to being full size.
I thought it would be good to show the progress I've made on my UFO LIST.
I know it's time to re-do the list when there are this many crossed out/highlighted.

Design Wall Monday- April 1, 2013

On the Design Wall is Tammy's B & W rose quilt she is making for herself!
It is in Memory of her Grandmother, who told her to make a totally B & W quilt.
She is ready to add a kicker white border and more of the black swirls
for the final border and get this one quilted so she can put it on her bed.
Mary Ellen has her Purple Roses Blocks ready to cut and re-sew for her D9P.
June is making one just like this!

The "End of Bolts" Sale continues through April 10th.
It includes the 108" Backings fabrics too.
If you are wanting a quilt finished NOW is the best time to get your backing...
More bolts being added every day!

And last but not least on this April Fool's Day is another NEW Project for Lynn.  They brought home the Log Cabin Die for the ACCUQUILT from Spring TRENDS and had to try it out with her Batik scraps.
That's just the first set she has started making with a Black Background. Ready for the 4th round.
There's enough Batik scraps cut for TWO King Sized Log Cabin Quilts.

Design Wall Monday March 25, 2013

Not much on the Design Wall but this pretty quilt came off the LongArm.
Victoria used our "Bouquet of Friendship" pattern and chose Pastel fabrics and the Kona White to make this quilt for the lady who found her lying on the floor in her apartment and got help and an Ambulance to get her to the hospital in time, thus saving her life. Don't you think it is a great gift!

The quilting on it shows up nicely.  It is the feather Panto that is a favorite.  It gives nice texture to the quilts.

June and Mary Ellen are keeping their Rotary cutters and fabrics flying at Thread and Bolts on Tuesdays and Fridays.  Here is the Planet D9P that Mary Ellen is almost finished with. She has another one started already.
It's fun to see them making the Disappearing 9-patch quilts in the same colors.  They both chose the PURPLE fabrics from the Jackie Robinson "Roses" fabric line. They don't Blog so I'll share them on here soon.  Mary C isn't the only one who loves the Purple!

Design Wall Monday- March 11,2013

"Square Peg in a Round Hole"
This is what the Michelle's D9P from the Y2K 3" Squares Swap looked like when Lynn "found" it last Fall when she was looking for her Jars to do some canning.   Very Scrappy, the only constant was the Orange center square.  We show it with a dime on it so you can see how tiny it is. About an inch finished!
This quilt began when we were still quilting in the basement around 2005.  Michelle told her mom that she got this one and last September it was put a little higher on the UFO list.  It needed borders and to be quilted.  That is just what happened this past week.  Michelle came to visit and selected the fabrics she liked for borders and on Tuesday, those borders were attached.  Not quite what her Mom would have chosen, but Thread and Bolts has a couple less skinny bolts of fabric in the shop now.  Mary C chose a bright Yellow Backing fabric and loaded on the frame.  When Michelle came to visit on Wednesday she said Yellow was her favorite color and it was perfect.  Lynn quilted Square Doodles on this quilt. There is nothing better than making a quilt for family! How do you like the name of this quilt?

Design Wall Monday- February 25, 2013

Thread and Bolts Quilting has been very busy since last week's Block of the Month M & M Quilter's group came.  Many parts and pieces of the Marti Michell "U-Taupia" Quilt are in process.
There are 56 or more of these needed for one of the borders. Lynn made a few in the half-sized...opps!  They will make a nice edge on the pillowcases that will go with this quilt.

We tried different Alternate solid blocks and setting triangles with the pieced blocks on the wall.  The blue is nice but it just didn't make these Jewel-toned blocks pop. We settled on the dark purple. You can see a little of the border fabrics being tested up there too.

A few tiny Pinwheel blocks and two color sashings were made and the Block with the BLUE around the center square got fixed too. The 4 corner Blocks will be the same block. Lynn is adding 4 extras to make this quilt fit her bed -King sized.  The fabrics are mostly "Butterfly Carnival" from Kona Bay. This is just a sneak peek of the quilt. It is well on the way to being a Flimsy, ready to be quilted with Butterflies.

Hopefully by this time next week it will be on it's way to the Spring Trade Show @ Trends in Portland.
Both Marti Michell and Doug, aka: Mr. Kona Bay will be there and won't they be surprised when they see it hanging up in the Warehouse? We'll post the Finished Quilt next week.
