Christmas Table Topper or Tree Skirt

Upcoming Class at Thread and Bolts

Taught by the Certified Instructor Jerrine Kirsch

Jerrine Kirsch lives in Washington State, but has been a quilting instructor for over 20 years and travels across the United States with various teaching engagements booked throughout the year.

As a Judy Niemeyer Quilting Certified Instructor, Jerrine is available for travel and can accomodate teaching events in any area of the US. She applied for the program as she is an avid fan of Judy's work and has taught the patterns she has completed in the past.

Her students have described her as a very patient instructor, and her ability to work with shops and guilds is exemplified by the number of repeat visits she makes to past clients. Her past experience working with other quilt designers has also given her experience and a broad knowledge base of pattern design, writing, and execution of quilt patterns. This type of knowledge gives her the ability to quickly break down Judy's instructions, explain them, and effectively recreate her patterns for instruction.

Jerrine will provide you with a unique experience for this class with class size limited to just six students per session.

Classes offered as follows and the Cost will be $60:

Daytime: September 26th and October 31st  from 10am to 3 pm

Evening September 26th and October 31st  from 5pm to 9 pm

Long time - No Blog

HELLO, has anybody missed seeing new stuff Here?  Did the Photographer go on strike?  NO, just life got in the way and the photos are still on the camera...
The Long Arm at Thread and Bolts has been BUSY!  A few of the quilts finished left without being Photographed- JULIE can you text pictures to me from your Phone???

Lynn took on the challenge of finishing this Vintage hand-pieced Double Wedding Ring Quilt for a customer.
It wasn't an easy fix however.  We brought the solid Blue home from Trends and she appliqued it to the edge by hand, manipulating the 4-patch points and Melon units to lay flat.  Then she added the outside Border on two sides and quilted it with 'Feathers".  As the label says the top was pieced by the Customer's Mother in 1960's and 1970's in Richland, Washington.  The Daughter wanted it finished and paid Lynn to do it for her 90 year old mother.  What a treasure it is now.  We are told that the Mother just cried when she saw it and hugged it, not wanting to let it out of her sight ever again.

Lynn took time out to Quilt one of her own UFO's...
This is a Slanted Star made of Hatchet Blocks from her Y2K Swap fabrics. No two corners are the same and it is KING SIZED to fit her bed! Quilted with a 'Simple Meander'.

Lynn proudly shared her Y2K Quilt with the Guild and Humbly accepted the Hearts and Flowers Quilt from Jan, our H & F committee Chair.  It's been nearly 6 years since the injury to Lynn's Shoulder. So this quilt is appreciated that much more.  Made in Lynn's favorite color- BLUE!

This Purple 9-Patch has been in the works for most of the year.  A gift for her son's caregiver.  He has admired the many crazy patched and scrappy quilts that he changes on a regular basis.  This one was made from the scrap bin and a lot of Purple.  It was Quilted with a free Pattern of Anne Brights' that came with the Side Saddle.

This is the center of a Hearts and Flowers quilt, Passed along to be finished by someone else in the H & F committee.

Rewind to 2 months ago.  That means you haven't seen the Farmer's wife Blocks from May or June.

Lynn's May FW Blocks                                                  Lynn's June FW Blocks

More fun at the Farmer Wife Classes

More of the ladies brought their finished blocks to class this week.  It just so happened that Mary was there to take pictures of Julie's quilts before she took them home.  She always has her camera ready and willing to take pictures. It's so much fun to see these blocks made up in all the different fabrics.   See Cindy's Vintage machine.  It was her Grandmother's Singer.  Lucky girl!  The fabric line Cindy is using is called "Cottage Romance".  Another lady joined the group today.  It's not too late to catch-up.  Come join the FUN!
The next photo is Laura's Blocks.  She has made a few of them twice to get the colors just right.  She is using her scrap bin and part of Lynn's scrap bin that she bought by the bag full.

And just to show the April Blocks made by Lynn (left) and Mary (right).

Keep up the great work ladies. We're almost 1/3 of the way done. The next class days are May 15 & 16.

Not everyone brought their blocks with them.  We'll try and get more pictures next month of the blocks.  We enjoy seeing all the different colors and fabrics in these 6.5" blocks.   Some of the Blocks are more "contrary" than normal.  Do you see the block done wrong?

We are all trying to keep up with Spring Break and Summer coming.  At least we Hope that Spring is Coming!  It has arrived at Thread and Bolts.  Lots of new fabrics to see and BUY!

Spring Trends- EE Schencks

Lynn and Mary attended Spring Trends in Portland this past week-end.  We met a few 'new' people who happen to be quilt book Authors and Teachers.  It was a fun week-end to get-away!
Friday was Shopping in the Warehouse Day and Guest Speaker- Carrie Hargraves.

Carrie is the Daughter of Harriet Hargraves a well-known Quilter.  Carrie is the Author of the "Quilter's Academy" series Books that they use to teach "precision" quilting at Boot Camps at the Store in Colorado.
She brought quilts that she made while writing the Quilter's Academy Books.

We enjoyed visiting with Pepper Cory and seeing her "Sashiko".  Lynn took several of the Make and Take classes at the Vendors.  Mary got to observe a couple and we learned some new tricks.

We stayed in the Red Lion at the Quay in Vancouver.  The first night we were tried of traveling so we ate during "happy hour' in the lounge. The food was plenty for our Dinner two nights while there.  Back in the room we Sewed on the project we have been working on for a while.

Here is Lynn with the Applique part of the Quilt made from the "Accuquilt" cuttings.  They are fused on the fabric. We have collected scraps and pieces from Linda Pumphreys at her Go Cutter Booth at Trends the past few times we attended.   Linda was in Lancaster PA show so we got to meet and learn more about the Go cutter from Tammy.

Mary was the designated sewist on this project again.  There just wasn't room in the hotel for both sewing tables.  We had to ask for an extra chair so we could both sit and work on the project. Lynn will Quilt it on her Long arm of course!

The finished top of the Quilt.

This is the Quilt made by our friendly Door Prize Caller at Trends- he also mans the Batting booth at Trends.  The pattern is currently found in the "Quilt" Magazine.  Here he is pictured with the lady who quilted it for him.  It is more stunning in person!  We had to search through 4 stores to find the magazine so we could get his "autograph" -- He's 'famous' now you know!

The only part that wasn't fun was the weather.  We saw all kinds of it!  We were so happy to finally see blue skies and a hint of sun in the distance as we headed home Sunday night.

Lynn has been Quilting the Ides of March Away

These are two of Julie H's fun quilts that got finished this past week. First up is a Bonnie Hunter Mystery from 2005.  It is called "Double Delight".  The information on this one is found on the Quiltville Blog in the Mystery Patterns.
And the back looks so nice with the Feathers.

#2 Quilt for Julie H. quilted with the same Feather Panto.

Back of Star Quilt- Feathers on Cream Background fabric.
Thread and Bolts has a great selection of 108" Backing Fabrics.

Sean's Stars
In honor of an old Irish Friend, Lynn made this quilt a very long time ago when she lived up by Tollgate.  Some of the green fabric has shamrocks on it.  It now belongs to Lynn's Favorite grand-daughter.  She received it on Wednesday and gave her Grandma the biggest HUG!
