Design Wall Monday September 17, 2012

There was more progress made on the Farmer's Wife Quilt.  Sewing the cornerstone and 2 sashings on each block like this makes it EASY to assemble. Tuesday and Wednesday are the Farmer's Wife Days at Thread and Bolts.  Won't they be surprised to see this hanging on the wall in the shop?!!
Only two more months of this class.

We will start a new Block of the Month in January.  Maybe TWO Blocks of the Month.  12" blocks this time.   There are new Marti Michell Blocks of the Month ready to go.  Using the same Templates we already have from making the Farmer's Wife.

Below is the D9P made from the 3.5" Y2K Swaps with Orange as the constant. This Quilt is for Michelle.
Kimmy and Tammi sorted them and matched them up when we were still sewing in the basement 6 years or so ago.  The quilt top was found when she was searching for the BOX of "Bears Need Homes, Too" fabrics a few weeks ago.  A couple of borders and it will be ready for Quilting.  It looks good on the Long Arm.

You can Link up with Judy Laquidara HERE. Lots to see on Design Wall Monday.

July Farmer's Wife Groups -Blocks

It's the week of Farmer's Wife Classes at Thread and Bolts.
Mary C is ahead and has her July Blocks are all made.

With the ones cut out and made this week she has a total 82 of the 111 done.
Just a few more to cut out and the paper-pieced ones to finish. She figured out a few blocks that could be made with Templates instead of Paper-piecing.  That made her very happy!!!

From the Tuesday Evening Farmer's Wife Group
Audrey has almost 4 of the groups done.

We hear that one of the Wednesday Morning group has finished all the blocks and could have the sashings done.  Pictures to be added tomorrow.

Mary J's Blocks
Not everyone brought their blocks with them.  We'll try and get more pictures next month of the blocks.  We enjoy seeing all the different colors and fabrics in these 6.5" blocks.   Some of the Blocks are more "contrary" than normal.  Do you see the block done wrong?

We are all trying to keep up with Spring Break and Summer coming.  At least we Hope that Spring is Coming!  It has arrived at Thread and Bolts.  Lots of new fabrics to see and BUY!

Sneak Peek- Farmer's Wife Blocks

These are the first 10 Blocks of the FARMER'S Wife Quilt.
Mary C. came out to cut out her blocks in preparation for the Small Groups meetings at Thread and Bolts next week. After Quilt Guild we now have 18 Quilter's who want to make this fun quilt. More Marti Michell templates and Farmer's Wife Books are on order and should be delivered by Monday, UPS and FED EX are working hard for us.

These are all fairly easy Blocks based on the 9-patch so they can be assembled quickly. Mary cut them out with the Marti Michell Templates and couldn't go to sleep Wednesday night until they were all sewn. Lynn and Mary C. have a few TIPS and tricks to making it easier to follow the book using Marti Michell's Perfect Patchwork Templates.

They are Top to Bottom L-R:
#9-Box, #16-Calico Puzzle, #21-Contrary Wife, #23-Country Farm, #41-Friendship Star, #69-Practical Orchard, #70-Prairie Queen, #72 Railroad, #81-Snowball, and #84 Spool.

Mary C. will have her camera ready on Tuesday to show some of the other color ways that these blocks/quilt will be made in.
