Design Wall Monday- September 23, 2013

Tammy  and I decided to make two baby quilts, with similar fabrics and race, LOL
Tammy's will have a different Kicker border and more PINK.
Guess who WON??
This is the Quilts for Kids design.
Easy with a 4-Patch and a Focus Square.
The fabric has Owls and Butterflies on it--you have to look close.

Quilts have flown out the door before Mary C could get pictures.
Thankfully Tammy took a few pictures that now can be BLOGGED.
Julie H from Mesa picked up a few quilts last week.
Before Quilting

After Quilting and Close up quilting
The quilting brings the Quilt to LIFE!
This is one Mesa Julie calls her $20 Walmart Quilt.
And this Scrappy Blue Quilt used a bunch of her Blue stash of fabrics.
The go to Quilt Pattern is the Feather Ramble.

While she was here, she gave me a Cherished Teddies frame.
I got a little emotional.  Love those Teddy Bears!

Design Wall Monday- September 16, 2013

It's been a while since Thread and Bolts Design Wall has changed.
The Farmer's Wife has come down it's together as much as possible until the extra blocks get sewn.
The Bear Need Homes too blocks are coming together so they can go on the BIG Wall Soon.
(You may have seen a sneak peek of them on The Happy Birthday post HERE)
This is a version of THIS QUILT made with a multi-BLUE scrap basket.
Pattern thanks to Evelyn Sloppy's Log Cabin Fever Book.
And on the other WALL is a fun Buggy Barn Hearts Quilt.
Don't you just love the mix of these 27 Fat Quarters in Red, Gold and Black?
Thinking of a Piano Key Border to finish the borders.

Tammy has been coming out a lot and helping with the stack of Quilts for customers.

This one is the latest one to come off the Longarm.

September 11, 2013

Today is Lynn's Birthday!!!
She is happy to claim the day as a Day
something "GOOD" happened!

It's been way too long since Mary C has been here and much too long since she has posted on the BLOG!
I thought it would be fun to SURPRISE HER!
On Tuesday, Mary C brought out Birthday gifts!
The newest Pattern book by Jennifer Chiaverini and a matching tote bag for the Loyal Union Sampler.
Also a Pink spool pin doily.
Lynn likes her new Cherished Teddies bear...close-up shown below.
Here is the fabrics we had fun playing with for possible colors of her Loyal Union Sampler.
Civil War-ish fabrics. Not her normal Blues...
So, what do you think??

Leave your comments here and wish her a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

M&M Quilters- May 2013

These pictures are from the Wednesday Group. Patty and Julie H from Mesa are making progress on their Blocks.

Patty is working on the A & C with Pinwheel Frames Block of the Month
She's half way done with her 12" blocks.

Julie H is making "The Romance Continues" Block of Month with her favorite color scheme.

Julie H also left another quilt to be quilted.  Isn't it a pretty one??
It was fun to choose a backing and quilt pattern and thread for this one.
There were so many shades of the goldish brown/tan in the Thread boxes.

2013 Blogger's Quilt Festival- Bed Quilt

I'm not at Spring Market even though it is so close in Portland, Oregon.  I'm seeing lots of pictures posted via Facebook.  Thankful for another chance to share with the Blogger's Quilt Festival online with Amy's Creative Side. I'm entering my most recent Quilt in the BED Quilt Category HERE

 "Butterflies in Flight"
Quilt Stats:
Size: KING
Pieced and quilted by Lynn Wilson January 2013- March 2013
Pattern name: "A & C with Pinwheel Frames"
Pattern Designer: Marti Michell
Fabrics: Kona Bay "Butterfly Carnival"
Photo by Mr Kona Bay- Doug
BIG THANKS!
Inspriration came from this stack of fabrics by Kona Bay
The Pattern came from a Block of the Month class that we have been running at Thread and Bolts this year with Marti Michell, using her Perfect Patchwork Templates.

Most of the construction of this quilt happened in the 2 weeks prior to Spring Trends this year.
When the fliers came out and we saw that Marti was going to be there there was some major hustle going on at the Thread and Bolts Studio. Many hours were spent cutting and auditioning fabrics for each block.
The center of each block was 'Fussy-cut'  from the Butterfly fabric.
There were only 6 fabrics used.  The pattern gives directions for 12.
6.5" Butterfly Borders on and ready to be quilted.
The quilt arrived at EE Schencks just in time for photography.

Enjoy the Blogger's Quilt Festival.  I hope you will consider this quilt for a Nomination and Vote.

Design Wall Monday April 29, 2013

The stack is getting more rounds sewn on. Pretty soon the design wall will be covered with these. There are 63 of them so it will make a BIG Quilt.  There is actually 3 quilts cut from the Batik scraps right now.
2 kings and a possible queen.
This is a close-up of one of the block that is close to being full size.
I thought it would be good to show the progress I've made on my UFO LIST.
I know it's time to re-do the list when there are this many crossed out/highlighted.

M & M Quilters -Blocks Progress

The Tuesday class spent most of their time cutting out blocks.

June brought her Blocks that she is making 4 of to have a King Size like Lynn's A & C with Pinwheel Frames Quilt.  She is using the same "Butterfly" Fabric for her center squares. They look very different with the combination she chose.
Mary C got her Alternate Blocks all sewn.  The Romance Continues has 13 of these blocks.  That means lots of 4-patches and flying geese.

Her quilt center is all together now and she is ready to add the borders. She came out to cut them on Wednesday.  Note to others using the Border stripe- Read the full directions.  Don't cut between the white and blue Floral border. Mary C's quilt will be a little different size than the Pattern unless she adds the seam allowance she lost to the inner border.

Wednesdays class was lively as usual and we got to see more blocks in the works.

Julie H from Mesa chose fabrics in her favorite theme for "The Romance Continues"  Her blocks include one from the other BOM that she cut by mistake in these fabrics.  It's great to see the blocks in all the variety of fabrics the M & M Quilters have picked.

These are Patty's Blocks. She is just starting on her A & C with Pinwheel Frames Quilt.  Most of her fabrics came from her STASH at home.  Patty is June's Friend and they both love their Purple fabric. June came on both days and got another of her corner blocks made.
Lynn worked on her Log Cabin Batik Quilt and has almost got the 60+ blocks finished.  They should be on Monday's Design Wall.

Design Wall Monday- April 1, 2013

On the Design Wall is Tammy's B & W rose quilt she is making for herself!
It is in Memory of her Grandmother, who told her to make a totally B & W quilt.
She is ready to add a kicker white border and more of the black swirls
for the final border and get this one quilted so she can put it on her bed.
Mary Ellen has her Purple Roses Blocks ready to cut and re-sew for her D9P.
June is making one just like this!

The "End of Bolts" Sale continues through April 10th.
It includes the 108" Backings fabrics too.
If you are wanting a quilt finished NOW is the best time to get your backing...
More bolts being added every day!

And last but not least on this April Fool's Day is another NEW Project for Lynn.  They brought home the Log Cabin Die for the ACCUQUILT from Spring TRENDS and had to try it out with her Batik scraps.
That's just the first set she has started making with a Black Background. Ready for the 4th round.
There's enough Batik scraps cut for TWO King Sized Log Cabin Quilts.

Design Wall Monday March 25, 2013

Not much on the Design Wall but this pretty quilt came off the LongArm.
Victoria used our "Bouquet of Friendship" pattern and chose Pastel fabrics and the Kona White to make this quilt for the lady who found her lying on the floor in her apartment and got help and an Ambulance to get her to the hospital in time, thus saving her life. Don't you think it is a great gift!

The quilting on it shows up nicely.  It is the feather Panto that is a favorite.  It gives nice texture to the quilts.

June and Mary Ellen are keeping their Rotary cutters and fabrics flying at Thread and Bolts on Tuesdays and Fridays.  Here is the Planet D9P that Mary Ellen is almost finished with. She has another one started already.
It's fun to see them making the Disappearing 9-patch quilts in the same colors.  They both chose the PURPLE fabrics from the Jackie Robinson "Roses" fabric line. They don't Blog so I'll share them on here soon.  Mary C isn't the only one who loves the Purple!
